Lemongrass is a tropical grassy plant. This plant grows wild in Indonesia, Indochina, and tropical Australia, and has been cultivated in Southeast Asia and Sri Lanka as a culinary herb and in India as a beneficial herb for thousands of years.

Lemongrass is used in cooking as a flavoring in order to enhance the spices taste in food and have become an essential ingredient in Thai and Indonesian cooking. These herbal plants can also be used to improve healthy life. When the leaves and stalks of these herbaceous plant being extracted, it delivered lemongrass oil.

Lemongrass oil has a powerful, fresh and light with a hint of lemon citrus scent. Therefore this oil often found in soaps and other personal care products. This oil has many other potential health benefits as well, such as to treat digestive problems and high blood pressure. Lemongrass essential oil is a popular tool in aromatherapy in order to help relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. 1. Antibacterial

Lemongrass oil can be used as a natural remedy to heal wounds and help prevent infection. As shown by Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine on August 2010, lemongrass essential oil is helpful in the treatment of pathogenic organisms and effective against a variety of drug-resistant bacteria.

2. Anti-inflammatory

Chronic inflammation may cause many health problems. Based on animal study on Swiss albino mice doing by Libyan Journal of Medicine, lemongrass essential oil has showed powerful anti-inflammatory and antifungal drugs.

3. Reduce Cholesterol

Lemongrass is traditionally often used to treat high cholesterol and manage heart disease, due to high cholesterol may increase your risk of heart attack and stroke. The study by African Journal of Biotechnology on March 2007 (Academic Journals) found lemongrass oil in certain doses, significantly reduced cholesterol in rats who had been fed a high cholesterol diet for 14 days.

4. Treat Digestive Problems

Lemongrass is used as a folk remedy for a number of digestive problems, ranging from stomachaches to gastric ulcers and it may relieve nausea. The Journal of Young Pharmacists on 2012 shows that lemongrass essential oil helped prevent gastric ulcers, which is a common cause of stomach pain.

5. Antioxidant

Antioxidants will help your body to fight off free radicals that can damage cells. Research held by ResearchGate on October 2015 has shown that lemongrass essential oil helps hunt free radicals.

6. Aromatherapy and Massage Oil

High blood pressure is a common side effect of stress. Many studies have shown that aromatherapy eases stress and anxiety. Combining aromatherapy with massage may bring greater benefits.

A psychological study from Research Gate held on May 2015 evaluated the physiological and psychological effects of lemongrass and sweet almond massage oil during massage. The study shows that the study participants who received a massage using the oil once a week for 3 weeks had lower diastolic blood pressure than those in the control group. Systolic blood pressure and pulse rate weren’t affected.

Refining Lemongrass Oil

Lemongrass is known for its uplifting citrus scent and healthful properties. For refining its oil, we harvested these lemongrasses from West Java. And after the refining process, this oil have at least these  characteristic:
Citral above 75%
Color: Yellow to reddish brown.
Odor: Characteristic strong sweet lemongrass.
