As an agroculture country, Indonesia is rich with various original essential oil that could be used in perfumes, cosmetics, soaps, air fresheners and other products, for flavoring food and drink, and for adding scents to incense and household cleaning products. These essential oils can be used for aromatherapy, a form of alternative medicine in which healing effects are ascribed to aromatic compounds.

Nusantara Origin Essential Oils

As a founder of Gold Leaf Agro Bali, Sonia Wijaya believes that Indonesia have so many opportunities to internationally market these essential oils. These are Indonesian essential oil that originally refined in Indonesia with modern refining system.

1. Patchouli Oil

This oil is an aromatic oil obtained from a Southeast Asian shrub, which is used in perfumery, insecticides, and medicine. Patchouli is obtained from the mint family and have a strong scented. This oil could binding aromas in perfumes.

This patchouli’s origin is from Sulawesi.
And after the refining process, this oil have at least these characteristic:
PA 30
Acid Max 8
Color: Reddish to brown
Odor: Herbaceous

2. Lemongrass Oil

Lemongrass oil can been used by healthcare providers to treat digestive problems and high blood pressure. Lemongrass essential oil is a popular tool in aromatherapy to help relieve stress, anxiety, and depression as well. This tropical grassy plant could become one of our best medicines from the nature.

This lemongrass’ origin is from West Java.
And after the refining process, this oil have at least these characteristic:
Citral above 75%
Color: Yellow to reddish brown.
Odor: Characteristic strong sweet lemongrass.

3. Citronella Oil

Citronella oil is often used as an insect repellent. This oil can also be used in manufacturing  perfumes, soaps and deodorants among other toiletries.

This citronella’s origin is from Pasaman, West Sumatera
And after the refining process, this oil have at least these characteristic:
Citronelal above 35%
Color: Pale yellow to light yellow
Odor: Characteristic Citronella

4. Ginger Oil

Ginger has long been used in traditional medicine. Therefore, ginger oil could give an aid for digestion and help to reduce stomach. As an aromatherapy, ginger oil could boost mood and feelings of courage. It also been used to help ease nausea, arthritis, cold and migraines.

This ginger’s origin is from West Java.
And after the refining process, this oil have at least these characteristic:
Gingerol above 50%
Color: Dark yellow to brown
Odor: Characteristic ginger odor

5. Cinnamon Bark Oil

Cinnamon oil could enhance immunity and its anti-rheumatic properties help to reduce joint and muscle pain. In aromatherapy, cinnamon oil is used to reduce symptoms of colds and flu, the feelings of depression, faintness, as well as exhaustion.
